They have been some good news for Brits today as government announced 4 countries we can travel to without need to quarantine upon return. Guess what was first thing I did? I jumped onto Ryanair and EasyJet website to check where we could fly cheaply 🤣🤣🤣 Don’t tell this Ollie though 🤫🤫🤫⠀

As we are approaching the finishing line of our van conversion, we started wondering where we should go for our first adventures. We will obviously recommence our UK County Challenge #ukcountychallenge now, but we are looking to explore more of Europe too (as soon as the quarantine won’t be obligatory). Ollie and myself are dreaming about Switzerland and Norway for the long time as it offers lots of outdoor activities which would be perfect for social-distancing, however looking as well here for some recommendations?⠀

⁣Welcome to our Van Conversion series.⠀

As we are finally at the finish line, we can’t wait to show you what we have been through.⠀
⠀
There have been definitely ups and downs…sometimes we felt doubtful what we need to do, how we need to do it and what products to use. In the era of the internet, amount of youtube videos are definitely helpful, but as well overwhelming. Everyone shows different approach and obviously as virgins in van conversion, it took some time to figure out things. However as we are at the end of our project, seeing our van become our 2nd home definitely filled our hearts with joy and happiness….The process is so worthy and it does feel like our dreams come true. Now we just can’t wait to go on first adventure.⠀

In the first episode, we will show you our floor transformation.⠀
⠀
When we first bought the van, it had just dirty and used plywood on the floor. We had an issue with putting the battens down as the glue we used just didn’t work. At the end we used ’Sticks like Sh*t’ glue…and it did what it says 🤣🤣🤣 We went for the wood effect lino and we love how cool the colour is. It actually looks like panels and was super easy to put down once we had all battens and isolation fixed. ⠀

⁣One of the most picture perfect villages we have visited recently 😍😍😍⠀

We have been extremely busy this past week (main reason of us being so quiet over here). We finally have a floor in our campervan…it felt like Christmas when we put it down 🤣🤣🤣⠀
⠀
Starting tomorrow we are going to do 7 days of campervan conversion…trying to sort out all the wood, deciding what material to use (as we need to be careful about the weight) and getting all details, definitely drove me crazy this past week. Based on our designs, I had to get rough idea how much plywood we will need. I felt like 24h wasn’t enough in those past days or like we were running marathon to get everything done and make sure we get orders delivered before tomorrow, but here we are…and I couldn’t be more excited as it means cladding and finally building furniture❤️❤️❤️⠀

⁣⁣Today felt like back to a tiny pre-Covid normality. As Lily starts school on Wednesday, they both went to their childminder today.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Yesterday I wasn’t sure how they will be, I was mentally prepared for some drama (from both myself and the girls)…but they were so excited. Yes, they are aware of the virus and the germs that surround us…but they were so happy to be back to some kind of normality. They put their backpacks on and without even turning back they said ‘we will miss you mummy, have a great day’. ❤❤Silence home was definitely something to get used to…it felt definitely weird. But amount of work I managed to do…it felt like I’m working on 500% speed🤣🤣⠀
⠀⠀
And definitely inside me…there is that little voice asking me constantly if we are doing right thing for sending them back….but at the same time seeing them so happy makes this voice quieter. Past 2 months definitely have been memorable and we loved every bit of it….they definitely made lockdown definition kind of unique:⠀⠀

C lapping for key workers (and delaying their bedtime every Thursday)⠀⠀

⁣We did another outdoor cinema this week, but this time it was a family version ❤⠀

The girls haven’t stopped chatting about it and asking when we can do it again. Can you blame them? Popcorn was finished before we pressed ‘play’ button 🤣🤣🤣 We ordered pizza and had marshmallows on fire...and ended a day at 10pm staring at the stars 😍😍😍 though I’m still not sure why they got up at 6am (I really hoped for lie in)⠀

Girls summed it up being the best day ever ❤❤❤ and I’m sure when we reflect back on the lockdown, only those memories will last forever. If you are looking for great family movie, we loved Onward 😍😍😍 such a beautiful story ⠀

⁣After month break, we spent this past weekend working on our beloved Van 🚐⠀
⠀
This year, coronavirus looks set to force us to swap our holidays abroad for breaks closer to home. We have just got announced that going abroad means quarantine for 14 days upon return. Which is why we are now looking for spots in U.K. that offer as well isolation, exclusivity and away from crowd, so our van will be coming out on its maiden voyage (& hopefully many more) this coming summer. ⠀
⠀
This weekend we got back into the conversion with earnest. We removed the part of bulkhead (the bit in-between the cab and rear) created a skylight & started working on the floor + ceiling. Well we had almost completed floor already but obviously as with every plan something needs to go wrong. The glue we bought actually didn’t do a job which means we need to redo our floor 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Lesson learn and I’m sure it is not going to be the last one. ⠀

⁣Ollie surprised me with a date night other day ❤❤❤ He created an outdoor cinema in our garden. It was so perfect ❤ ⠀

We haven’t been on a date for at least 3 months...I’m sure we are NOT the unique ones here as obviously due to Coronavirus we don’t have any childcare available. ⠀

He brought all the cushions from our living room, few blankets, candles, fire pit, lights. He has transformed our garden to proper outdoor cinema 🍿 It was super romantic and free...so if you are due for a date anytime, hope this can give you an idea ❤ you can even recreate it in your own living room.⠀

This trip made us in love with the #vanlife and we knew that at some point we will want to buy a van ourselves. We changed our mind several times...going from campervan, motorhome, caravan...we even at some point decided to postpone the entire project...to finally buying a van as we had to cancel our Asia trip due to Coronavirus. The conversion has been a slow start due to COVID-19, but we can’t to pick up where we stopped very soon and finally start making best memories ever❤⠀⠀

If you haven’t thought about visiting Iceland....please add it to your bucket list! You will not regret it. Believe me it will be dream trip. It has been the most incredible country we have ever visited and I would go back anytime.⠀⠀

I hope you have kept yourself busy and not going crazy yet (we definitely can’t wait to be adventuring). We can’t wait to complete our van and go on our first #vanlife adventure. We can’t wait to visit my parents as girls don’t stop chatting to visit them. When we have got the suitcase out for this video, their actual first question was “are we going to see baba (aka Polish granny)?” This made me feel like we really nail this parenting thing and what really matters in our lives ❤️ I think they truly miss going away as much as we are. However this time hasn’t been wasted, we had so much fun over past few weeks....and we definitely made one of the best memories in our house...and we will treasure forever.⠀
