Norfolk holds a very special place in our families’ heart. This is the place where Ollie grew up and we go back very often. So to visit a new spot in Norfolk during the summer time, well we jumped at the opportunity!

We were thrilled when we received an invite from Hemsby Beach Holiday Park to check their luxurious Platinum 2 Bed Lodge with hot tub.

We travelled to Hemsby after lunch time on Friday as check-in starts at 2pm.

Hemsby Beach Holiday Park

The park provides a massive range of accommodation which makes it suitable for most budgets. We stayed in amazing Platinum Lodge Spa with hot tub, however they also have Gold and Silver caravans as well as different apartments and basic chalets.

The side was renovated in 2018 and has a fresh and sea side feel. Perfect escape for the summer break and an opportunity to explore the nearby Broads.

Our Lodge – Platinum 2 Bed Lodge with Hot Tub

We absolutely loved our lodge. It was a well-designed luxurious accommodation for our family of four. The lodge had big kitchen stocked with all the utensils, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, etc. which allowed us to cook our own meals. The accommodation also had a master bedroom with spacious wardrobe and en-suite, plus a twin bedroom. There is another spacious bathroom with a bath. We loved our open plan living area with dinner table, all beautifully decorated. The best part of it just outside, where on the decking you had a hot tube. All doors would open into this area which created an additional space that we could enjoy during sunny day. It has a garden furniture, so it allowed us to eat inside or outside. We felt that we were away from all the other caravans. The lodges are located in the secluded part of the park. There is an available option to bring your pet with you too.   Every evening when the girls went to bed, Ollie and I could watch TV, have a drink on the decking or enjoy the hot tube.

You can check the 360 walk around the lodge HERE.

What to Do at Hemsby Beach Holiday Park?

What we loved most about Hemsby Beach Holiday Park was that it has lots of activities on site, which means that you don’t need to leave the premise. It offers an amazing selection of Go Active activities like archery, climbing walls, fencing, inflatable canoes, sea scooters, etc. Facilities include as well heated swimming pool, bars, play areas (indoor and outdoors), mini golf and family entertainment centre (bowling and arcades).

We decided to put a few of these activities to the test. One of our favourites was hiring the Berg Bikes. The girls loved going around the park while Ollie and I peddled (good exercise too!). It was so much fun that all of us enjoyed. It allowed us to discover the area and what the park has to offer. Lily was really keen trying the Water Walkerz. Firstly, Lily got briefed about safety from the instructor and then put into the big ‘bubble’ on the water. At first she was a bit scared and wanted to go out, but after watching another boy float around in it, she really loved it. There were smiles all around! The other activities which we really loved doing were bowling, spending hours in the swimming pool, trim trail (an outdoor area full of fitness equipment), kids disco and a crafting session. And let’s not forget about meeting the Ellie Elephant and Richie Monkey.Craft Club Hemsby Beach Holiday Park Hemsby Beach Holiday ParkYou can find full list of activities HERE.

Eating Out and Self-Catering

I think every family loves having an option to cook in the lodge and occasionally spoil themselves for a dinner out. We were invited to sample dinner at the brand-new Quarterdeck Restaurant. Ollie and I decided to go for the delicious Chicken Caesar and Cajun Chicken & Bacon salads (we were full as the portions were good size) and the girls picked Pizza and Sausages from the kids menu.

While we waited for our meal, the girls had a good run on the playground just opposite from where we were sitting. It was perfect as Ollie and I could enjoy a conversation while keeping an eye on the girls. After a fulling meal, we got treated to a lovely ice-creams for dessert and decided to check the Kids disco afterwards.Hemsby Beach Quarterdeck RestaurantHemsby Beach Quarterdeck Restaurant We highly recommend trying out the Posh Plaice, located in the Yacht Club Bar. We loved their Fish and Chips. It was great meal we needed after a good swim and run around in the soft play area.

As our lodge had fully equipped kitchen we decided to self-cater ourselves too. Things that you will need to bring with you as well is coffee, tea, pepper/salt, oil, etc.

Things to do around Hemsby Beach Holiday Park

Hemsby is located in a great site, close to lots of Norfolks finest attractions.

Here is a list of things you can do on your day trips out:

Hemsby Beach – it’s located only 5 minutes walk away, however there are many other stunning beaches if you fancy to drive; we particularly loved discovering Winterton on the Sea (only 5 minutes drive) as it was a very sandy long beach.Hemsby Beach Hemsby Beach Hemsby BeachNorwich – it’s located only 20 miles away & a city full of history is so worth the visit.Norwich with kids

Great Yarmouth – Just 7 miles away. Great Yarmouth offers a fun day full of roller coaster rides, a circus, seaside treats and lots more

The Broads National Park – we visited this National Park on a previous trip and I can’t recommend it enough. We rented a canoe and loved paddling on the river, but you can also rent a boat from the Richardson’s Day Boat Hire in the nearby Broads village of Wroxham (seating from 5 to 12 people).

Happisburgh Lighthouse and beach – 6 times a year in summer, you can visit the Happisburgh Lighthouse and climb to the top of the tower. It’s such an iconic place to visit and won’t be possible to do so in 30 years due to the coastal erosion. The beach is really lovely and you have beautiful playground close by too.Happisburgh Lighthouse

We would highly recommend our Platinum 2 Bed Lodge to families or if your in a group of friends. It was such a relaxing break for us and the girls absolutely loved their holiday home. You can feel that Hemsby Beach Holiday Park is perfect for making sure that all families enjoy their time off and collect some of those seaside memories.
